Some dogs have great personality traits, but they are not popular and very well known. Today i will show you TOP 10 most underrated dog breeds.

First i would love to say, that this topic is very subjective. For me, all the dogs on this list have great qualities, but for some reason, they are not popular among people. Maybe some of these dogs will be completely unknown for you.

Otterhound might be extinct very soon and today, they are rarer than white rhinos. Only 24 puppies of Otterhound were registered last year. There is only something around 1 000 Otterhounds in the world nowadays. But Otterhounds are not only hunters, they are affectionate family companions.

Catahoula Leopard dog is another very rare dog breed, nowadays, but in the past, this was popular choice among hunters. For example Teddy Roosevelt have Catahoula Leopard Dog. This is state dog of Lousiana and it is dog with incredible hunting skills, they are great protectors, trackers, but also great family dogs with one of the most beautiful coat of all dogs.

There is a lot of popular toy dogs – Shih Tzu, Chihuahua, Maltese.. But you dont hear much about Japanese Spitz, even thoug, its the ultimate cuddler. And its also very low maintance dog. Interesting fact is, that this dog, despite its name, is not actually from Japan, but from China. Japanese Chins are known for being little bit mischeivous and stubborn from time to time.

Borzoi is one of the biggest and strongest sighthounds of all. For some people, they might look like bigger and fluffy Greyhounds. A lot of people is thinking, that Borzois are snappy and temperamental. But most lucky owners of Borzoi would say, that they are wonderful, sweet, enormous and goofy companions. Definitelly not agressive dog as some people are suggesting.
