Dog snuffle fluffy mat has a lot of benefits for dogs health. It slower dogs eating which can help with digestion. Another great benefit is, that your dog wil lget much needed mental exercise, which can reduce the stress level. It is also good, because it can keep your mischeivous dog occupied, when you need to do some work.
Making fluffy mat is not hard at all. All you will need is one rubber pad with regular holes in it. The holes should be close together. You can use whatever size you want, our rubber pad was 60x40 cms big. Than you will need scissors and tons of fleece fabric. How much fleece you will need depends on how big rubber pad you will use. If you will buy one big fleece blanket, it should definitely be enough. The colours are not important, just choose some, you will like. Now lets jump into making the mat. There are two easy steps, but they take some t ime. First step is to cut your fleece fabric into strips. We cut them into 20x5 cms big strips, but again, it dependes on you and your idea about the mat. The strips dont need to be perfect and they definitely dont need to be similar to each other. You will not see some small mistakes in the final snuffle mat. Now we need to take the fleece strips and put them onto the rubber pad. Take one of your strips and tie a piece through each hole going down each row until you have done the whole mat. The wholes in our rubber mat was closed together, so we did not need to do anything else. But if you want or you will need, you can also make second round and go back and tie pieces on the diagonal, to fill the gaps. There you go, you just finished your interactive food puzzle toy for your dog. Now you just need to put some good treats into your mat and let your dog sniff it and find it.
