10) Sarbi

Sarbi was an Australian Labrador Retriever who worked for special forces of Australia as an explosives detection dog from the 2006 to 2008. She was deployed to the Afganistan with Australian Army. She dissapeared after the ambush in the September 2008 and she was found 14 months later by an American soldier when he noticed Sarbi accompanying a local man. He tried to use voice commands that only trained military dog would know and thanks to that he knew that this is the missing dog Sarbi. After that, she was reunited with Australian forces and she was sent back home.

9) Endal

Endal is probably the best known service Labrador of all. Thanks to the number of awards he had won, Endal was nicknamed as the most decorated dog in the world. He worked as a service dog for ex-Royal Chief Petty Officer Allen Parton, who was injured in the Gulf War. Endal was able to retrieve items from the shelves, load and empty a washing machine, operate buttons and switches, put a card into the cash mashine and many other hard tasks.

8) Buccleuch Avon

Avon is considered to be the ancestor and the foundational dog of the modern Labrador Retriever, next to two other dogs – the Buccleuch Ned and Malmesbury Tramp. It is believed that all the Chocolate Labs today can trace their ancestry back to Avon, who lived in the 1880s.

7) Sadie

A black Labrador Retriever Sadie served at Kabul where she was discovering bombs and explosives. She was awarded with the Dickin medal after she alerted her handler of a hidden bomb while on duty. It is believed, that she saved lifes of tens and maybe hundreds of soldiers who were on-site that day.

6) Fidèle
Fidéle, or Fidel in English, was a famous belgian dog who became a tourist attraction. He was famous for sleeping in the window infront of the Groenerei canal. The boats on the canal paused their route just so the passanger can také a photo of Fidel. The owner of the Fidel, Caroline Van Langeraet said, that many fans sent Fidel toys and fan mails.

5) Jake

Jake was a search and rescue Labrador Retriever from the USA, who served and helped to find missing people during the September 11 attacks or Hurricane Katrina and Rita. Thanks to his heroic tasks, Jake is considered as a national hero. He was found injured and abandoned on the streets when he was 10 months old and he was adopted by Mary Flood. Jake is not alive anymore, he died in the 2007 when he was 12 years old.

4) Brian Griffin

Okay, this is not a real life Labrador, but it is certainly one of the most famous one. Brian Griffin is the famous white lab from the fictional animated series Family Guy. Brian is one of the most popular character of the show.

3) Zeke the Wonder Dog

The Zeke is a frisbee fanatic and mascot of Michigan football team. He became famous, thanks to his half time performances of frisbee catching. The tradition was born and after the Retirement of the Zeke the First in the 1984, Zeke the second revived the tradition in 2002. Today, you can go and watch the skills of the Zeke the Fourth.

2) Buddy and Koni

Buddy and Koni did not make anything heroic in theif life, but they are probably the most famous companion Labradors in the history. It is because they were companions of two worlds most powerful leaders – The Bill Clinton and Vladimir Putin.

1) Zanjeer

Zanjeer was an Indian police Labrador retriever who was amazing at detecting grenades and explosives after the 1993 bombings. One time he find out over 3000 kilograms of explosives. If we would not include the 1993 bombings, Zanjeer finded 11 military bombs, 57 country-made bombs, 157 petrol bombs and 600 detonators. When he died at the age of 8 in the year 2000, he was honoured with a full state funeral.
