Tibetan Spaniel breed originated from Asia during the ancient times. Buddhist monks bred the Tibetan Spaniel to look like little lions that symbolize Buddha. They became the alarm dogs for the monks’ Tibetan monasteries just like their cousin breed, the Lhasa Apsos.

The Tibetan spaniel weighs around 4kgs to 7kgs and about 25 cm tall. They have long feathering growing between their toes, they have a plumed tail and undershot mouth. Their average lifespan is around 13 to 15 years.
The dogs of this breed are trusting and affectionate pets but they are cold to strangers. You do not have to worry though, even if they are unfriendly to those they do not know, they are never aggressive. This makes them excellent watchdogs that will alert you with their barks if anything is out of the ordinary.

They make excellent pets as they are responsive to their “best friend’s” feelings and moods but they can also be a bit stubborn. They can think independently and will not obey if they feel that your request is unreasonable to them.
