The first advantage would be, that Pugs are amazing for apartment living. It is not very active breed, so its perfect for seniors or not so active people. They are also pretty easily trainable, at least if we talk about the basic commands. Because of that, they are great for novice dog owners.

Great thing is, that you can read pugs emotions quite easily. If they are sad, happy or excited, you can tell it easily. And a lot of time, Pugs emotions will be the same as yours. If you are sad, the Pug will lay with you all day long. If you are happy, they will happily go out for a walk with you.

Pugs are very friendly, loving, they love to cuddle, they are very affectionate and they will make you smile every day. Because of this, they are great choice for family pet. Your kids will love this dog and most of the time, Pug will love them as well. This is kid friendly dog. Pug is also friendly towards strangers or other dogs.

The last bigger pros is, that Pugs are easy to groom. They really dont need a lot of grooming and bathing, only when necessary. Of course, you need to take care of their ears, eyes and nails, but again, only if it is needed.

Now lets talk about the cons. There are two big disadvantages of owning a pug. The first one is a little bit sad, because it is about their health. Pugs are prone to many diseases and especially to infections. It is because of their face. Their bulgy eyes are prone to eye infection, their short nose is prone to respiratory problems. Be prepared to pay a lot of money for veterinary bills, when you get a Pug.

Another big disadvantage is, that Pugs are heavy shedders. It does not look like it, on the first sight, but Pugs are double coated dogs who shed all the time. Anything a pug touches practically turns into a pug, because it is covered by their fur.

As i said, they are very attached with humans, which is cute, but it can quickly turns into a con. They will go anywhere where you go. To the kitchen, to the television, to the bathroom, everywhere. They love you so much, that for some people it might get annoying. This can be for some disadvantage but for some people this is a big advantage.
