Lets start with origin of Kangal Shepherd. We actually dont know, how exactly was Kangal Shepherd bred, but there are some rumours. We definitely know, that they are from Turkey and Back in the days in Turkey, Sivas province, the farmers have a big problem with predators like wolves and bears, who were killing their livestock. That is why they bred Kangal Shepherd, which was a dog, that is strong, agile and intelligent enough to repel a wolf.

Kangal Shepherd dog has great temperament. Its very brave, loyal, but most of all, which is very important for dog this big, they are pretty predictable and reliable. They were bred to not be agressive towards other people, so if the Kangal or its family is not at any danger, the Kangal will be most of the time pretty friendly.

They are very territorial, which can be problem, if some people or animals will visit your home. Kangals might be not okay with that, because they really treasure their territory. But if you socialize them properly, there should not be big problems with that.

Kangal need a lot of space, so its good if you have bigger garden. They are also barkers, so make sure, that your neighbours are okay with that. The fence around your garden should be tall and it should have good deep foundation, so the Kangal can not run away. People would be scared of him and they would probably call police.

Last thing i would love to say, is how strong they actually are. The Kangal bite force is the strongest of all dog breeds. Their PSI (which is an unit for meassuring bite force) is incredible 746. Second Bullmastiff is on 556 PSI and famous Pit Bull only on 235 PSI. So the Pit Bull bite force is three time lower than Kangals.
