Dutch Shepherd dog breed info. We all know German and Belgium Shepherds. But have you ever heard about Dutch Shepherds? As you can probably guess, Dutch Shepherd is a dog from Netherlands. They were used here as sheepdogs. They were not only herding sheeps, they also had to protect and guard them. Which means, that they are very versitale breed. Today, they are mostly used as obedient and smart companion dogs.

Those dogs are impressively intelligent and they definitely love to work. Important thing to know is, that they are high energy. It will not be easy to keep your dog entertain, you will need to make long walks, different types of plays, you can play fetch with them, go jogging, také them on long hikes, give them interactive food puzzle toys.. This is the most important part of having Dutch shepherd – keep their body and mind stimulated – if you will do this, than you will have happy dog in your home.

This breed is especially good at obedience and discipline. Its because of their love to work and high intelligence. They love to work with you and they get all the possible commands. Those dogs definitely have strong character and good owner can achieve a lot with them.

Its harder to recognize them from Belgian Shepherd – because just like Dutch shepherd, they can have short, long and wire coat, they have similar personality, similar energy level and they are both healthy and loyal dogs. The similarity is again in their size – Dutch shepherd is little bit smaller and they dont have typical squared shape body like Belgian Shepherd. Belgian Malinois are also available in many different colors.
