Dogs love eating peanut butter. And its great for them. Peanut butter is actually one of the favourite treats of many dogs. Not only is it a good source of protein, but it also contains heart healthy fats, vitamin B, niacin, and vitamin E. Stuff peanut butter into a Kong to keep your dog busy for hours. Choose raw, unsalted peanut butter.

But be carefull with peanut butter. There is a lot of callories, so give it to your dog with small doses. Peanut butter is only a treat, it is definitely not the main food for your dog.

Its also important to buy quality peanut butter from 100% peanuts. There are a lot of peanut butters on market, that have a lot of sugar in them, which is bad for dogs. Quality peanut butter might be more expensive, but it is worth it. And your dog will love it.

The good news is that regular peanut butter is safe to give your dog as a treat. If the peanut butter you give your dog doesn't contain Xylitol, then your furry friend can enjoy it. We spoke with a veterinary nutritionist to get some insight about peanut butter safety for dogs.
