First of all, lets say, that it is not true, that dogs are descendant of wolves. These two animals share common ancestor, which is now extinct. At least, thats what scientist are saying. But we hear everywhere, that dogs and wolves are very similar, especially in marketing campaings of food companies or dog trainers.

The first big difference is in their appearance. But it is hard to talk about differences between wolves and dogs, since there are more than 300 very different dog breeds. You can watch my video, where i am showing you all of them, links will be in description. But if compare Alaskan Malamutes, Czechoslovakian Wolfdogs or Siberian Huskies – dog breeds that look like a wolf to a real Grey Wolf, we will see, that wolves are way larger. They have larger heads, paws, legs. But they have narrow chest and hips, which dogs tend to have wider.

Than there is personality and behaviour. Dogs are happiest when they can live with people, while wolves are happies and healthies, if they live in wilderness. Wolves are much more independent and they dont like strangers – and definitely not human strangers. But they are loyal to their pack, just like most of the dogs are loyal to their family.
