1) Origin
The Canis Panther was developed in the beginning of the 1970s in the USA, to be more specific, in the Chicago area. Three people are mainly credited for developing the breed, and those are Mr. Scorpio Jones, Michael Straten and Lucas Lopez. ​

2) Ancestry
The Canis Panther is a mix of four great dog breeds. Most of the time, they look little bit similar to Dobermans, so its no wonder that one of those breeds really is the Doberman Pinscher. The other three are black Great Danes, black Labrador Retrievers and American Staffordshire Terriers.

3) Utilization
This breed was developed to protect its owners, family and property and indeed, if there is one thing the Canis Panther excells at, than it is protection. They have naturally protective instinct, they are typically alert and suspicious towards strangers.

4) Companions
But the Canis Panther is not only a tough protector, they have their sweet side as well. All the parent breeds – Doberman, Labrador, Great Dane and Amstaff are quite intelligent and trainable, so as the Canis Panther. The Canis Panther is also very sensitive and loyal dog, who creates a strong bond with its owners and family. They love their pack and they will want to spend as much time as possible with you.

5) Training
It is true, that the Canis Panther is very intelligent and highly trainable, but they those are definitely not dogs for novices. It is because of their enormous strength, protective instict and they tend to be quite dominant. These dogs definitely need experienced owner who can handle dominant dogs by firm training, patience and consistency.

6) Name
The name Canis Panther can suggest, that this dog was developed or used to hunt panthers. Or maybe that it hunt like a panther. But none of these is right and this is not a hunting dog breed. The Canis Panther is a protector, not a hunter and they got this name because they look similarly to panthers.

7) Size
This is a very muscular dog breed with wide chest and strong jaws. They are quite lean and strong dogs with very powerful appearance. On the other hand, they are also very elegant dogs. The average height is typically between 62-77 cm which is 24-30 inches and weight should be between 85-140 pounds, which is 38-63 kg. The females tend to be slightly smaller than males.

8) Maintenance
Great fact about the Canis Panther is, that they have almost no grooming needs. Even without any grooming, they will keep their coat in good condition. You can brush them from time to time to remove the dead hair and minimize the shedding. Just like with all dog breeds, you should regularly check their eyes, ears, teeth and nails and clip them or clean them if needed.

9) Exercise
This is quite active dog breed with bright mind, which means they need quite a lot of daily physical and mental exercise. They will be happiest if they have access to large fenced yards where they can stretch their athletic legs. Those dogs are also pretty playful and they will love to play different dog games with its owners. And they will always be ready for a long outdoor walk or jog. Without enough exercise and mental stimulation, they can develop some unwanted behaviour, such as destruction.

10) Coat
The Canis Panther has a great looking short coat, which comes very often in beautiful black color. But those dogs are not always black, they can also be in chocolate, fawn or blue color. Very often they are in solid color, but they can have some white or tan markings.
