Cane Corso vs Presa Canario Facts and Difference

Cane Corso height should be between 60 – 68 cms and weigh between 40 – 50 kg. Females are most of the time between 40 – 45 and males between 45 – 50 kgs.

Cane Corso can be described as courageous, loyal, quiet and cheerful dog. They are not only guards, they love to work and they actually were used for herding cattle and hunting big game in the past. But they do make good guards and they are very responsive and agile dogs.

The Cane Corso originated from Italy and their ancestors are the old Roman Molossians. This dog was primarily used to hunt boars and protect and their name actually means guardion or protector.

Presa Canario height is between 56 – 66 cm and the weight of female Presa Canario should be between 40 – 55 kgs and 50 – 65 kgs for males. But even though, this is a breed standard, there is not many Presa Canarios over 60 kgs.

The Presa Canario needs a lot of obedience training and they need firm, strict and patient leader. They are dominant dogs and they are very suspicious towards strangers. This trait actually makes them excellent guards, but it can be the trait that makes them hard to manage.
