7) Welsh Terrier
Lets start the video with the famous Welsh Terrier. This dog was originally bred to hunt foxes, badgers and rodent. This breed is full of life, very active, playful and always ready for any kind of an adventure. Welsh Terrier is a true terrier, which means that they have independent mind and higher prey drive.

6) Welsh Sheepdog
This is herding dog breed from Central and North Wales. In the past, they were quite popular, but because of the import of Border Collies to this area, their numbers declined a lot. Luckily, the breed was saved. The crosses between Welsh Sheepdogs and Border Collies are called Welsh Collies.

5) Pembroke Welsh Corgi
The Queen Elizabeth favourite, the Pembroke Welsh Corgi is another very popular dog breed from Wales. Believe it or not, these small dogs were used as herders and i believe they are one of the smalles herding dogs in the world. And it is a great herder with extraordinary intelligence, actually it is believed that this is one of the most intelligent dog in the world.

4) Cardigan Welsh Corgi
Of course, the next dog on this list is the second Welsh Corgi – the Cardigan. This is also a great worker, which might be surprising, since today they are mostly used as family companions, but Cardigan Welsh Corgis were succesfully used as herders, farm guardians and drover dogs. BTW if you are wondering what are the differences between Pembroke and Cardigan Welsh Corgis, i am giving you link in description to another Rocadog video.

3) Sealyham Terrier
The second terrier on this list and as you would probably expect from a terrier, this is an avid hunter. They were bred to hunt badgers, otters and foxes. This is an independent dog who can be stubborn at times, but it is also loyal and affectionate companion.

2) Welsh Springer Spaniel
This is a faithful companion and a devoted gundog, that was developed to flush game in the field. It is an active, loyal and affectionate companion, but they need proper socialization, otherwise, they might be territorial. It is a very intelligent hard worker who needs plenty of exercise every single day.

1) Welsh Hound
This old dog breed from Wales has been kept as a hunting dog for 2,000 years. They were bred specifically to hunt foxes and even today, they are only rarely kept just as family pets. The Welsh Hound was bred for speed, stamina and vocalization and they are using variety of barks and howls during the hunt.

There are some other Welsh dogs, that are sadly already extinct, but i want to mention them in this video anyway. It is the Black and Tan Terrier, Welsh Hillman, Old Welsh Gray Sheepdog.
