Alaskan Malamute vs Siberian Husky

These two dogs are very similar yet so different. On a photo its sometimes very hard to recognize, if it is Husky or Malamute. But if you would see them standing next to each other, you would never make a mistake and always recognize them.

It is because the biggest difference between them is their size. Alaskan Malamute is much much bigger than Siberian Husky. They height around 60 cm, while Husky height only about 55 cm. That does not sound like much difference, but Malamute is much more muscular.

Another difference is their eye colour. If you will see a dog and you will not know if it is Husky or Malamute and he will have blue eyes, you can be sure, that it is a Husky. Malamutes have brown eyes – never blue! Malamutes also have bigger and rounder heads – almost like a wolf or bear. Husky head is more snippier – like a fox head.
