The Vizsla has its origin in Hungary. They served as a hunters, but they were not very popular until the 10th century. In early history, the Vizsla became popular with Hungary's elite barons who appreciated the breed's unique capabilities.
2) High intelligence
Vizsla is very intelligent dog, but their intelligence is not that good for obedience training, but rather for problem solving. That is why the food puzzle toys are the best thing to buy a Vizsla, they just love them. It is important to challange their brain on regular basis.
3) Velcro dogs
The vizsla is famously known as the original velcro dog. They will just follow you everywhere, yes even to the bathroom. They want to do everything with their owners. Everywhere and all the time. If you are looking for a companion, that will be always by your side, i can guarantee you, that with Vizsla, you will never be alone.
Vizslas are fast. How fast? They are probably among the TOP 20 fastest dogs in the world and they can run up to 40 miles per hour. And if we would not count the sighthounds like Greyhounds, Salukis or Borzois, Vizslas might be even the fastest of all.
Vizslas love to be clean and they také care of it by themselves. They are constantly grooming themselves. But you should help them with occasional baths and dont forget to check their teeths, nails, eyes and ears.
6) Living with
Vizslas are extremely social, which means they can easily live in apartment. They will definitely prefer living in smaller apartment with you, rather than living on a big yard just by themselves. They do tolerate other dogs, but you should socialize them early.
7) Hunting heritage
Because of their hunting instinct, you should not trust Vizslas around smaller pets like rodents, reptiles or birds. You should keep them away from the Vizsla. It is possible that they would try to hunt them down and kill them.
For a larger dog, Vizsla have a great lifespan between 12-14 years. But the oldest recorded Vizsla lived to nearly 21 years old! Vizsla biggest growth perios is between their 4th and 9th months and they reach the maturity around the 18th month of their life.
Vizsla is a well proportioned dog with a noble appearance. If they have a good diet, they are very muscular. The vizsla height is between 21 – 25 inches which is 53-64 cm and their weight is between 40-65 pounds which is 18-29 kg.
As we already said, the Vizsla is highly energetic dog, which means they need a lot of exercise. Thye can do any kind of exercise, including long walks, jogs, but you can even go cycling with vizsla or try to do some dog sport. Unfortunately, if you will not get them enough daily exercise, some behaviour problems, like chewing on furniture or excessive barking might occur.
