The Staffordshire Bull Terrier was fully developed in the 19th century to be small and fast dog to the fighting ring, but harmless and gentle towards their owners. They share the same ancestor with American Pit Bull Terrier and American Staffordshire Terrier, which is the Bulldog. The Bulldog was probably crossed with the Manchester Terrier, which led into creation of the Staffordshire Bull Terrier.
2) Fearless
Staffordshire Bull Terrier was bred to have no fear, and they still have this lack of fear in them nowadays. It is very rare that this breed is scared of strangers, weird sounds or other animals, just like other dogs sometiems are.
3) Family dogs
On the other hand, they are very friendly and gentle towards their people, the family and their owner. They are also very loyal and tolerant and they most of the time have no problem with strangers. They dont get agressive or shy around people in general.
4) Power and muscles
If you look at Staffordshire Bull Terrier the first thing you see is a lot of muscles. They are one of the most muscular breeds in the dog world. Thanks to that, they are very powerful. But watch out when they are greeting you! They can easily knock you off your feet without even realizing what they’re doing.

Staffies are not pushovers to raise and train. They are definitely smart and capable of learning a lot of different tricks, but they are also pretty dominant, independent and sometimes even manipulative. You must be extremely consistent and very patient with the training to achieve good results.

This breed is relatively wide and slightly longer than tall. They should be between 13-16 inches tall which is 33-41 cm and their weight should be between 24-37 pounds which is 11-17 kg.

As far as dog grooming goes, a Staffy’s routine will be fairly simple and low maintenance. If you want to keep the shedding to a minimum, weekly brushing is recommended. You should only bath them when necessary.
