The Puggle is not a real breed, but a cross between two purebred dogs – the Pug and the Beagle. The first Puggles were intentionally bred in the USA in the 80s and they have been registered with the American Canine Hybrid Club.
2) Family companion
Puggles love their family and they are even great witch kids. This makes them extraordinary family companions. They are sweet, cuddly, intelligent and playful and they just want to spend every minute with their people.
3) Acitve dogs
Puggles might make great family companions who loves to cuddle, but they still need a lot of daily exercise, since this is pretty active dog. They love longer walks and they totally enjoy various games like fetch. They will love if they have access to a yard or a garden, but with enough exercise, they will happily live indoor.
4) Good for novices
Not all dogs are good for novices, but Puggle is one of the better choices. Even though they are sometimes stubborn, their small size makes them pretty easy to handle and their sweet temperament and high intelligence makes them easily managable over all. They are definitely capable of learning a lot of tricks and commands, but they are not always willing to obey them. This will teach you a lot of patience and persistence, which is needed while training any dog.
Both Beagle and Pug do shed and that is why the Puggle sheds as well. Regular brushing is needed to remove the dead hair and minimize the shedding as much as possible. You should also také care about the wrinkles on their face and body and keep it clean, otherwise they can have some problems with infections.
Puggle has the looks and characteristics from both parent breeds – the Beagle and the Pug. Most often you will see a Puggle with little wrinkles – just like the Pug, but with longer snout than the typical Pug. Their height is between 13-15 inches, which is 33-38 cm and weight between 18-30 pounds which is 8-13 kgs. You can find Puggles in many colors, including fawn, red, tan, lemon, black, or any of those colors with white. They can also have black mask.
7) Social dogs
Not only that Puggles love their family – it seems that they love all the people. Including kids and other dogs. There might be some problems with cats, since they are still half Beagles, which is a hunting dog afterall. Other small pets might not be safe around Puggles as well, especially if the Beagle side of your Puggle is stronger.
As all dogs, even the Puggles can have some problems. They can have the same problems as their parents, the Beagle and the Pug. The Beagles are known for being very independet and for tendencies to bark and howl. The pugs are known for respiratory health problems. Its only logical, that the Puggle can inherit either of these temperamental or health problems.
Many people all around the world fall in love with the Puggles and celebrities are no exception. The list of celebrities who own or owned a Puggle includes Uma Thurman, Sylvester Stallone, Kelly Osbourne, and Penelope Cruz.
10) Love to eat
All dogs love to eat, but it seems that Puggles love to eat whenever, whatever and wherever. You should take proper care about their weight and dont let them eat all the time. Puggles are prone to obesity, which can lead to other health problems. A fit dog is happy dog and it is your responsibility to take care about it.
