Greyhounds and Whippets. One of the fastest dogs in the world, that look very similar. Not only that they look similar, their personalities are also alike. It makes a lot of sense, since both are descendats of the same dog - English Greyhound. They share their characteristics with some other sighthounds like Borzoi or Afghan Hound. So what is the difference?
The biggest difference in their appearance is their size. But its quite big difference. If you will see Greyhound and Whippet standing next to each other, the Greyhound will be always the bigger one. Adult Greyhound weighs around 30 kgs, but Whippet only something around 10 kgs. Male Whippet will measure 55 cm and Greyhound are almost always higher than 70 cms.
If we will talk about personality, there is one bigger difference, which is, how active they are. Both dogs are couch potatoes, but Whippets are more active than Greyhounds. Greyhound will typically go for a walk and than spend the rest of the day just sleeping and resting. Whippets likes to play more, they like longer walks and they are just more active overall.

Akita Inu and Shiba Inu - two of the six ancient Japanese breeds and two that are the most popular in the world. They share together a lot of traits and characteristics. They have similarities in both, appearance and temperament, but there are still big differences between them.
They look pretty similar, but there is one huge difference, that is their size. Akita is almost twice as big as Shiba! Akita is largest Japanese Spitz with height around 65 cm, Shiba is smallest Japanese spitz with height only around 35 cm.
The temperament is also pretty similar, Akitas are very loyal, protective and dominant. They are friendly inside their pack but they are often agressive against other animals. Those are amazing characteristics for being great guard dog. They also have strong prey drive, but that is true for shiba inu also.
Shibas are very independent dogs and they are reserved with strangers. Shiba Inu is, just like Akita very protective and loyal dog and they are also very territorial. Shibas are more energetic and they requieres more exercise than Akita, but they are not that playful. Shiba is also less stubborn than Akita.

These two dogs are very similar yet so different. On a photo its sometimes very hard to recognize, if it is Husky or Malamute. But if you would see them standing next to each other, you would never make a mistake and always recognize them.
It is because the biggest difference between them is their size. Alaskan Malamute is much much bigger than Siberian Husky. They height around 60 cm, while Husky height only about 55 cm. That does not sound like much difference, but Malamute is much more muscular.
Another difference is their eye colour. If you will see a dog and you will not know if it is Husky or Malamute and he will have blue eyes, you can be sure, that it is a Husky. Malamutes have brown eyes – never blue! Malamutes also have bigger and rounder heads – almost like a wolf or bear. Husky head is more snippier – like a fox head.
