Greece civilization is one of the most interesting of all. And Greece is home to some interesting dog breeds as well. For example to the Cretan Hound. This is a dog from big Greek island called Creta and it is probably one of the oldest hunting dog in Europe. Unlike the Greek Harehound, they are using both, sight and scent equally while hunting. Cretan Hound is pretty obedient dog and they want to make us happy, which makes the training easier. Their temperament is active and focused while they are hunting or doing some other activity, but while they are with their family, they are gentle and affectionate.
Have you ever heard about Kokoni? This dog is also known under its name Small Greek Domestic Dog and it is very popular dog in Greece. They are small companion dogs, that are sharing homes with Greek people for centuries. And they are great companion dogs, lively, fun to be around, bright and eager to please. And they are also pretty intelligent and good at training.
Probably the most famous Greek dog is Greek Shepherd. It is livestock guardian from mountain region. These dogs are beautiful and sometimes they are confused with Great Pyrenees or other Mountain dogs. They have floppy ears, large head and broad muzzle. Their temperament is very independent and they are not good for novice owners. They are very loyal, brave, alert and intelligent. They might look lazy when they are resting, but when they have job to do, they are very active.
